Vega capabilities

All capabilities

Everything Vega does inside SOLIDWORKS, area by area, on a single page. Open each one to see real examples with their request, time and cost.

Parts

Describe the part and Vega models it with real SOLIDWORKS features: sketches, extrusions, holes, fillets and patterns, ready to keep editing.

Open the page · 3 examples
  • Parts from a description: sketches, extrusions, cuts, fillets, chamfers, mirrors and patterns.
  • Conceptual 3D sketch before modelling, in the browser: parts or the whole product in their colours, to rotate, check and change before anything is built.
  • Hole Wizard holes (through, tapped, countersunk and counterbored), single, in rows or in patterns.
  • Shafts for motors and gearmotors in one request: steps, chamfers, retaining-ring grooves, DIN 6885 keyways, DIN 332 centre holes and IEC shaft ends.
  • Ribs, sweeps, lofts, draft angles and cosmetic threads.
  • Variants of a part: configurations, an Excel design table or one file per variant.
  • Material, mass, volume, centre of gravity and dimensions of the part.

Drawings

Vega makes the drawing with your template, places the views without overlaps and dimensions it. Assembly drawings, revisions and one drawing for every part of an assembly too.

Open the page · 1 example
  • Drawing of a part or of every part in an assembly, with your template, the views you choose and a round scale.
  • Dimensioning in one request, with the views placed without overlaps.
  • Assembly drawing: exploded view, bill of materials and balloons.
  • New revision: a row in the revision table, the letter in the title block and a PDF with the revision in its name.
  • After a model change, it updates only the drawings affected.

Sheet metal

Base, flanges, hems, holes and cut-outs in one go, or a solid converted to sheet metal. With its flat pattern and the drawing for the workshop.

Open the page · 3 examples
  • Sheet metal part in one request: base, flanges, hems, holes and cut-outs.
  • Turn a solid into sheet metal; fold and flatten it.
  • Sheet metal from its flat pattern: a DXF or DWG with the outline, cut-outs and bend lines.
  • Shop drawing with the flat pattern, the bends and their dimensions.
  • Review for manufacturing: bend radii, reliefs and holes close to bends.
  • DXF of the flat patterns for laser cutting, with the quantity in the file name.

Weldments

From layout to structure: profiles from your libraries, automatic joints and trims, gussets and base plates. And a first list to cut it from stock bars.

Open the page · 3 examples
  • Complete structure in one request from its layout: profiles from your libraries, automatic joints and trims.
  • Trusses and sheds: chords, posts, diagonals, ridge and eaves with no overlaps.
  • Gussets, end caps and base plates placed where they belong.
  • Change profiles, trim and extend members.
  • A basic cutting list in stock bars (6 m or another length), in Excel and PDF, to review and complete.
  • Indicative check of steel beams and columns (Eurocode 3).

Cutting optimisation

Vega gathers the cut lists of your weldments and prepares a basic cutting list in stock bars: a first proposal to estimate how many bars you need and organise the shop, which you review and complete with your own judgement.

Open the page · 1 example
  • Gathers the cut lists of every weldment in the assembly, counting how many times each one is used.
  • Asks the stock length of each profile (6 m, 12 m or other) and suggests the last one you used.
  • A basic count of how many bars each profile needs, as a starting point.
  • Shop sheet in Excel (summary, bars and pieces) and in PDF with every bar drawn, ready for you to review and complete.
  • It is an aid to get started: check the layout and adjust it to your material, your saw and the way you work.
  • It doesn't change the model: it only reads the cut lists and prepares the list.

Assemblies & variants

Bills of materials to Excel, assembly variants with their mass, coding of every file and what a change affects. Without breaking a single reference.

Open the page · 6 examples
  • Bill of materials to Excel with the columns and properties you choose.
  • Variants of an assembly (by width, length…) as configurations, with the mass of each one.
  • Rename and code every file of the assembly and its drawings without breaking references, with the list of old and new names.
  • Where a part is used and which drawings would be affected if it changes, without opening anything.
  • Edit an assembly: add, move, fix, mate or remove components.

Export & 3D

PDF, DWG, DXF, STEP, Excel, a 3D viewer that opens in any browser… Vega exports it in one go, gathers the manufacturing package and checks that nothing is missing.

Open the page · 3 examples
  • Exports to PDF, DWG, DXF, STEP, IGES, Parasolid, STL, eDrawings, 3D HTML, image and Excel…, for one part or a whole assembly in a single request.
  • Manufacturing package in one request: PDF drawings, DXF of the sheet metal, STEP and an Excel file with the bill of materials and the cut list.
  • Sheet metal cutting package: it recognises the sheet metal parts of the assembly and exports the DXF of every flat pattern with its quantity, the PDF of its drawing and an Excel file by material and thickness.
  • 3D viewer in HTML to share the model with people who don't have SOLIDWORKS.
  • It checks what was exported: that every file exists, that the DXF files are in millimetres and to scale, and flags what is missing, such as components with no drawing or an out-of-date one.
  • It never overwrites: if a file already exists, the new one gets another name. If one fails, it retries only that one.

Manufacturing review

Vega reviews the part or the whole assembly and tells you what should be fixed: badly placed holes, thin walls, parts with no material, interferences or mate errors. With a report and captures.

Open the page
  • Part review: holes close to edges, bends or other holes, thin walls and threads.
  • Review of a whole assembly, part by part and without the fasteners, including parts with no material.
  • Assembly validation: interferences, failing or redundant mates, components not fully positioned and broken references.
  • Every warning with its capture, in a PDF report.
  • Before the manufacturing package, it checks that drawings and models match: saved, up to date and with the same revision.

Reports

Manufacturing reports, reviews and A4 documents with your logo and your colours. Another colour or one more section? Just ask and it changes it.

Open the page
  • Manufacturing report for the part or the assembly: views, material, mass, dimensions, properties, bill of materials and cut list.
  • In your own style: your logo, your colours and your look, or the standard style.
  • Any A4 report or document, kept and, if you ask, as PDF.
  • Manufacturing review and assembly validation with a capture of every warning.
  • Impact report: where a part is used and which drawings a change affects.

Design from an image

Attach a photo, a hand sketch or a DWG or DXF drawing and Vega turns it into a SOLIDWORKS part. First it shows you a conceptual 3D sketch in the browser for you to check.

Open the page · 3 examples
  • Part from a photo or a sketch attached to the chat.
  • Conceptual 3D sketch before designing: it opens in the browser, you rotate it and check it, and ask for changes before Vega builds anything in SOLIDWORKS.
  • DWG or DXF to 3D: it reads outlines, holes, slots and texts from the 2D drawing.
  • Sheet metal from its flat pattern in DXF, with the bend lines.

Translations & properties

Translate drawings and properties into other languages without losing the originals, and tidy up the properties of hundreds of files in a single request.

Open the page
  • Translate drawing notes, tables and title block into 9 languages, keeping each language inside the drawing.
  • Many drawings in a single translation: a list, a folder or the assembly's drawings.
  • Translate properties into any language, keeping the originals.
  • Batch properties: create, change values, rename, delete, copy and link to mass, material or dimensions.
  • Rename and code every file of an assembly without breaking references.
  • Properties of closed files, without opening them.

Render & video

Realistic images and short videos from your SOLIDWORKS model, for presentations, catalogues and social media. Retouch them in your own words.

Open the page
  • Realistic render from the model view, with the background, lighting and finish you ask for.
  • Retouch a render: another background, softer light, a matte or glossier finish, without changing the product.
  • Short AI video from the view or from an existing render, with the motion and format you choose.
  • Materials, colours, transparency and textures applied to the parts.
  • Materials for every part of an assembly according to what each part is.

Work folders

Vega reads your project folders on your computer and finds parts, drawings, quotes and documents by their name, their properties or what they say. Without opening SOLIDWORKS.

Open the page
  • Searches by words and by meaning: “which specification mentions galvanising?” finds the document even if it uses other words.
  • Parts, assemblies and drawings: properties, configurations, where each part is used and which is its drawing, PDF or DXF.
  • Text documents: PDF, Word, Excel and plain text, read page by page.
  • “Where was I?”: picks up what you were doing from recent documents and conversations.
  • From your phone: it finds a document and sends it to you.
  • The index stays on your computer only and Vega never changes your folders: it only reads them.

Shall we try it with your parts?

We'll show you Vega live, with your models and your way of working.
